Who are we?

François
SKIPPER
  • 60 years old, 2 children
  • Lots of Optimist, Vaurien in North Brittany and as a teenager the discovery of cruising on the family Challenger Europe – cruising and racing on lots of different boats from one design to ocean racing trimarans
  • Former owner of a First 50 GTE
  • Lived and sailed in many countries: Algeria, Germany, Belgium, France, Holland, Italy, Norway, UAE, USA – about 1500 miles per year on different seas
  • Participation in the ARC 2016 in a Lagoon 450
  • After several trips around the world by plane, it was impossible to resist the possibility of doing the mythical Whitbread !
Nicolas
  • 56 years old, 3 children
  • Beginning in windsurfing, hobby-cat and laser in North Brittany and in adolescence the discovery of the world of regatta in La Trinité
  • Sailing and shipbuilding professional
    • Admiral’s Cup 1987 and 1989 for France: 1991 1st (Fastnet winner 1991), 1993 3rd
    • 1995 Match Racing Vice World Champion, 1996 Mumm36 World Champion and 1994 IOR 50′ Vice World Champion
    • More than 10 French Sailing Championship titles + Spi Ouest France winner 3 times, Tour de France à la voile 2001,
    • Winner of the 2003 Transat Jacques Vabre in IMOCA 60′ with JP DICK
    • Technical Director of JP DICK’s IMOCA team (2001-2003 and 2009-2012) – 4 years on the IMOCA and Mumm 30 technical committees
    • IMOCA 60-footer – winter Pacific crossing Auckland NZL – Panama without stopping (8.500 nm).
  • Why the OGR? I have never been round Cape Horn!
Audrey
  • 40 years old, 1 child
  • Started optimist at 6 years old (until 11!), then continued in laser, catamaran and 420
  • Enjoyed François’ First 50, which she learned to skipper with Nicolas
  • Sailed in the Atlantic, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean
  • Dreams of rounding Cape Horn, sailing a Swan and sharing this adventure with family and friends
Marc
  • 54 years old, 3 children 
  • A bit of 420 at the age of 8, then a lot of water-skiing and finally, as an adult, cruising and racing in ECC Turkey, Sardinia, Greece and High Point Yachting BVI
  • Former owner of Oceanis 34, Lagoon 400 and Oceanis 38
  • Lived and sailed in many countries: France, UK, USA, Australia, Spain on a First 50
  • Participation in the ARC 2016 on a Lagoon 450 then convoying Lagoon 450 and 52 in the Caribbean and Pacific coast of Mexico
  • Followed the Abiven brothers in the OGR project, seduced by this incredible opportunity to offer to enlightened amateurs the possibility of participating in a mythical race, on the same route that exceptional men and women take in the Volvo Ocean race or the Vendée Globe.
Maëlys
  • 22 years old 
  • Student in Master 2 in Management Sciences and Sports Professions 
  • On sandwich course with Mad Atao by Yes we Cam
  • Discovered the sailing world at a very young age in Brittany
  • Practiced optimist for 5 years and since 12 years catamaran.
  • Participation in club regattas in northern Brittany 
  • I am delighted to be able to take part in this wonderful project and to learn more and more about this environment through the preparation of this mythical race.
